Road Cycling - differences in mavic road rims

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
On Mavic's site,

they make all the rims look the same. All fit the same range of tires and are very similar weight. I know some of these rims can be used for cyclocross, some for road, but it is not apparent on that site!
What is the intended use of each rim? Why choose one over another?

the open pro is the gold standard, a good weight clincher for training and club rides. this wheel will last many years.
the ma3 is a heavy duty version of the open pro. ; touring, cross and tandems.
the reflex is a tubular rim mean for racing and climbing. it's light, responsive and great handling.
the cxp 33 is semi aero at a decent weight, mavic offers this rim with many drilling options. the aero shape give this rim strength and stiffness.
cxp 22 is a semi aero clincher that looks pretty durable, looks like a heavy duty version of the cxp 33.
depending on your weight, riding style, type of riding you do and spoke choice, the open pro or the cxp 33 should meet your needs. but if you have certain perferences, you should talk to your LBS.

close, but the ma3 is not the same shape as the open pro. the ma3 is a box-section rim. if you look at the cross section, it is flat, and less aero then the open pro. Also the cxp22 is a cheaper, not tougher version of the cxp33. I think it is not welded either, meaning there is a nastly little seam on the sidewall somewhere.
