I'd like to do an unsupported ride from Hillsboro to the Coast. I know there are a few different routes, but I'm having some trouble with the logistics. I need a route suitable for a standard road bike (not set up for touring) but it appears like the most popular one via nestucca has 3 miles of gravel road. Can someone suggest an alternative?

The second issue is finding a ride back, but that's a seperate matter.

The reach the beach ride I believe does not go through gravel. Correct me if I'm mistaken people who have actually ridden it :P This map isn't going out of Hillsboro, but you could probably work out that route to connect to this one:
