So I was planning on doing a club ride this Saturday with semi local start (tired of driving everywhere). Looks like SJBC Saturday ride that starts at Via Valiente & Almaden Expressway fits the bill. Anyone done it before, are new riders welcomed, and what is the distance, pace?
Thanks

There is a 50% chance that they will go to Gilroy golf course on that ride (leaves at 830am) if Kim Taylor leads it. ;) She's a very nice lady too. It's about a 55 miler with rollers, on an average speed of 18-20mph (moving), peaking around 35 mph, depending on the group size/membership. One of my favorite rides. :D New riders are always welcome, but be warned of the high intensity level. It's a no drop ride, as long as you know where the regroup points are. Attacks are frequent, especially approaching Santa Teresa Blvd and on the way back from the reservoir.
Other destinations include the Hicks, Metcalf, and Hwy 9 climbs. I have yet to see them do Mt Hamilton, but it's not impossible.
I used to be a member of SJBC, but because I'm living so far away, I don't race with them anymore. I love their jerseys though. :thumb:

I plan on riding that on Sunday actually. Plan is to ride from San Jose to Pleasanton.
Anyway thanks for the info, I think I'll do the ride on Saturday.

Just received this via the mailing list:
Hi All,
I will be doing the South San Jose Training Ride this Saturday (7/26).
The ride leaves from PW Plaza at the corner of Via Valiente and Almaden Expressway at 8AM.
The route is south along the reservoirs to Gilroy and back (about 50 miles).
The pace during the summer is FAST with defined regrouping points.
All are welcome. Hope to see you there.
Hopefully it won’t be too smoky.

Thanks.
It was a great ride. A bit of chasing, a bit of pulling. Ended up doing 68 miles (extended it after the ride). Big kudos to the SJBC members, very friendly bunch. :thumb:

Theirs is my favorite style of pacelining. I have yet to find another club that works so well together. Glad to hear you had a good time.
