Electric Bikes - ItsElectric Claim true?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Newbie here again with a quick question:
Is this claim true?
Because we are still out of stock of the BL36 and BD36 kits,
Please select the OutRunner as your choice of kit. Our OutRunner Lithium battery combination kit is almost the same price as the Journey kit (being similar in price but including the lithium battery, it is of better value as well).

It probably is true. Ken from It's Electric is very honest. I've been dealing with him for more than 2 years and have bought 2 brushless hubs from him as well as a number of batteries and accessories. I am one very satisfied customer and would recommend him highly.

I don't understand. What is the claim? They're saying, "we are out of this kit, so buy this one instead." They did not claim that they would sell the OutRunner at the same price as the BD-36 or BL-36.

Just wait until this fall after the Olympic games in CHINA. Shelves will be full of anything and everything - prices will be much lower too! Now is not the most economical time to buy electric bike components/kits.

Do you think conversion kits, batts, etc. will really drop that much after this summer?

Trust me, its true. My girlfriend now works for Ken, and I work 40 feet from their brick & mortar store, Power in Motion. Their sales have practically tripled in the last year, as have many other LEV shops out there. People are having a hard time keeping up with demand on many fronts.

I think he's saying that because of the olympics, factories have cut back production in China. I was just talking to a lady (an hour ago) who's husband was on a team that visited Bejing a few years ago to help them plan for a major reduction in air pollution. It's a huge problem there. So they have scaled back production in many factories and are running an odd/even day on who can drive. The olympics start in a couple weeks (I think August 8th), and they want the air clear for the athletes.
After that production should increase again.
I think that's what he was trying to say.

Oh I think I get it now. This isn't a price match for a better product claim, it's a short supply claim.

Go for it. I just purchased the Outrunner kit for my Specialized Rockhopper and love it. I went with the rear motor and 36V 10.5 Ah Power In Motion battery. Ken is very helpful and answered all my questions. I also recommend getting the Cycle Analyst if your budget allows. It provides speed, power, voltage, etc in real time... perfect for ensuring that you don't drain the battery past it's recommended limit and great for knowing your speed and distance travelled. I also got a triangluar shaped bag that mounts inside the frame in a similar fashion to the Journey. It has a key ignition and houses the battery. Overall, I'm very pleased with the whole setup. Top speed on my bike with my 160 lb body is about 18-19 MPH without pedaling. With a little pedaling, it's upwards of 21 MPH. If I push it, I can get 25 MPH for a short distance. Based on the 30 miles I put on it so far, I believe the range claims are accurate as well.

Indeed, they're good kits. The girl runs an Electra Townie 21 with a Crystalyte Outrunner front drive kit and a 48v/10.5ah lithium-polymer setup, and I have a Rocky Mountain Fusion + Xtracycle running a rear drive Outrunner with a 48v/10.5ah battery. Both have been very reliable and enjoyable.
Ken rigorously tests his products and works to improve them. He's very good with providing information and support when needed.
Did you purchase the cycle analyst from itselectric? Also, does anyone know of any coupons, discounts to use there or extra savings when purchasing from any other companies?
Thanks for putting up with this noob. I'm approaching a 1st purchase
Well, the claim is not that the OR-36 and the BL-36 are the same price. The claim is that the lithium kitted OR-36 ($936.94) is about as expensive as this Journey Kit (http://us.itselectric.ca/Crystalyte_Journey_s_Kit_Rear_Wheel_p/us-journey-rear.htm)($859.95), but is a superior battery. The superior battery part is true.
For a kit with comparable components to what the BL-36 ($499.95) comes with, the OR-36 will end up costing you $671.95 and you will still need a rack( or you can buy the frame mount bag). It's motor will still be 200 watts shy of the BL-36, but at least someone will make more money!
I would advise you try to find the BL-36 elsewhere.

Well I am not sure about coupons, but when I go into work next I can inquire about it to Ken if you would like.

Yes, I bought the cycle analyst from them as well.
I'm now entertaining adding a second 36V 10.5 Ah battery wired in series and replacing the controller for one that will handle 72V so I can have a 72V system... I'd like a little more speed.
