hi I am from Cali. and plan on entering the road cycling world in September when I get all my gear and all that. I had a nishiki century but it got stolen, it was a used bike I had for a few months so I plan on getting a new bike and really becoming a serious rider because I already enjoy biking so much. :)

Not sure if this is appropriate here but I was also just wondering if someone could tell me some of the slang and vocabulary used out in the cycling world/ here on the forums. Just so I am aware and do not feel like too much of a noob when I get on the road.:p

Well, welcome aboard!

OK, a dictionary would take up more space that I have time to be able to devote. ;)

Just be sure to get a good D Lock for the bike. ;) Other than that, jump in and have fun.

I have a nice lock but it isn't a d lock, hopefully that will work alright. :)

Too bad about the Century--I have several Nishikis, and love them all!

Some bits of slang, just to get you started:

MUP = Multiple Use Path
Fred = someone completely dorky, OR someone who wears all the kit, but hasn't a clue.
Campy = Campagnolo

That should get you started!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
