Foo - Top Gear host "breaks" neck driving a Nissan GT-R

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Alternate thread title: "Ugly cars I would still want to own"

Clarkson drove the GT-R at the Fuji grand prix track. His neck snaps at 6:30. "You hopeless old fart, a Datsun broke your neck." Then the Stig drove it at the Top Gear test track. "Now remember this £53K car has monstered(?) a 300 grand McLaren around the Nurburgring, but I doubt it will do that here because this is a power circuit."
The Stig's laptimes at their test track, with approximate car prices:

Looks like a performance bargain to me. (The Ariel Atom is an oddball overgrown go-kart, not a proper car but it would be great for track days.)
I don't care if the GT-R is kinda ugly, I would buy one if I could afford it.
I'm glad it took so long to create a Skyline successor. The new GTR stands up to its pedigree.

Look who we get^^^:notamused:
I don't remember who the other two hosts of Top Gear USA are.
Clarkston is a far better obnoxious jerk.

Oooo! Is that ALL they cost? Lemme get my purse...
Bleh, why do we need our own Top Gear? The original is perfectly serviceable. Just show it here!
As for the GT-R... It's ugly, and I wouldn't want to own one, but whipping one around a track for a while would be an opportunity to jump at.
I wouldn't mind an R32 GT-R, though.

Or even older...

My two bobs worth is that its a "performance bargain" because Nissan is selling it at a loss. Its a technological marvel and that costs money which Nissan wouldn't have honestly figured into the purchase price. The R&D costs will be in some other budget.
Its all about their image so the costs aren't important. Some of the other supercar companies can't afford to ignore such R&D costs and they are in it to try and make money.
Mind you what a great car!

Nobody sells the GT-R for $70K. The dealers are reportedly getting $100K+.

You got my hopes up! I even unwrapped the bottle I have set aside for this very eventuality.

We have a shat load of them getting around here in Kyoto. My favourite was originally the R32 but I'm afraid the latest is creeping up to my favourite.
My cousin (in-law) is a member of the Nissan GTR development team in Tokyo. He has had an R32 since new...it will be interesting to see if he upgrades (???)

As long as Tiff is okay, the rest of em can bust their necks all they want. He's the only host I really like anyway...
