I've been trying to contact them via email for the last

I'll give then another week and then I'll start talking

There's a way to contact eBay and get a phone number and any additional info for people you recently bought from or sold to.

Same problem here, they don't answer the emails.
I wanted to buy a part and they are supposed to be near me so I figured to confirm shipping-packing time etc.

No answers to 2 emails.

so I bought it in Cali and 3 days later it arrived via US Mail

Well i got really good exp with abaxo.

I bought 5 things from them on ebay. cheap and really fast shipping to sweden too.
Just thought id say something nice since u mostly hear the bad stuff about companies :D

Americancycle on ebay or web is a totally different story tho.. wont buy there again thats for sure!
Bought a crankset with chainrings from them on EBAY but crank arrived without chainring. I write 5 emails or more asking for info, no awnser for 3 weeks. I decided it was time to complain with paypal.

1 day after filing the complaint they awnser. Saying the factory no longer supply the chainrings with the crank and that they forgot to update their ebay item. However they inform me their webpage is updated and they are kind enough to offer me a refond for 20 usd. They sell the damn item for 80 according to their webpage ffs:D

they still refuse to give me refond for anything other than 20?? talk about a ripoff.
Hopefully paypal comes through and force them to refond me 80..

Its not even about the money, its just the feeling of beeing played for a sucker.. hate it!

Having dealt with this seller myself, I have nothing to say in their defense.

+1 on the Abaxo bad service
Paid for $22.83 expedited shipping (the only option that they provided) but received the package via regular parcel post ($5.01 postage on the package), a difference of $17.82. When I contacted them about this, not only did it take quite a few days to get a personal reply but they threatened me with attempting to extort them and said that they were going to contact ebay about this.
I strongly recommend avoiding this seller.

I got my items from Abaxo as promised, but on the whole I regret ordering anything from them. When I received my headset, all the pieces were packaged loose in a USPS soft mailing envelope (including the star nut, which fortunately didn't scratch up the headset). The order was packaged loose in another mailing envelope without any packing to protect the items.

Many of their items say "7 day money back, buyer pays return shipping" for returns. When you go to their return policy (http://stores.ebay.com/Abaxo/FAQ.html), it says:

> Q:What is your return policy?
> A:I will refund all your return shipping costs should an item arrive
> defective or damaged. Please contact me at abaxoebay@gmail.com
> before you return an item, I will then send you a return code. The
> replacement items will be shipped the same day I receive your
> return. Returns without a return code will be refused and shipped
> back to the sender.

However, this statement of their return policy incomplete to the point of being misleading, because you must scroll to the very end of the FAQ page before you find this:

> Q:Can I get a different item / Can you replace or "swap" an item?
> A:I am sorry, I can only ship the exact item you purchased. I can
> not "replace", "swap", "exchange" or ship an item any other than
> the one you purchased. Please make sure you are getting the exact
> item you want before placing a bid. I can not "cancel" any purchases.

This might be an acceptable policy, if there were not other online retailers who had more reasonable return policies (full refund minus shipping, or full refund including shipping if the retailer made an error) and who can match or beat Abexo on price (particularly after you take shipping into account). No particular need to bother with these guys.

Their whole marketing strategy screams RIPOFF--typically a product you can buy anywhere for $25 they advertise for $10. "Shipping" for this 2 ounce part is $20.

This is such an obvious scam, I'm really amazed that anybody would trust them enough to buy anything, even if the total cost is a good deal on the particular item they're interested in.

I was wondering if you have any information about ABAXO. We are wholesalers and they are selling product online that they are not permitted to. We need to know what shop this company is. Phone number, address, anything at all will be helpful. You can respond to me at dvejbi@aol.com.

Agreed that it looks funny. Ebay however does not take a cut from the shipping fee. Thus many sellers simply add to the shipping to get the price they need. I have bought a MTB cassette last year and it did arrive in good condition and at a price similar to Performance or Nashbar.
Would I buy again? Most likely I will stick to sellers with good return policies and reachable by email or telephone.

No one is forcing anyone to buy from them, and their shipping is clearly explained in the auction. I made a recent purchase from them, and got a good deal. As for my original comment, I may have been confusing them with IcyclesUSA. Either way, based on their feedback, over 120,000 transactions have been completed by them. They might be on to something.

I used them once for some brakes pretty decent deal no problems, shipping was probably a litter higher than I would have liked but I got the order very quickly.

Absolutely no exaggeration, see the reply under your original post. They're gaming the system.

I've bought quite a few things from abaxo in the past and have never had any sort of trouble with either their prices (for the stuff I've purchased, anyway) or service. Sometimes their answers to questions I've asked may have been a little half-assed but that's about it.

@ClarkinHawaii People that buy something on ebay and complain about shipping prices are deliberately being ignorant and trying to cheat the system themselves. In the example of the $10 item with $20 shipping, while it's true that you may want to cry that actual shipping was only $5, it's probably also true that retail price on that item was more than the $10 you paid. So don't cry about overcharging for shipping unless you also plan to pay retail on the item. Ebay is based on total price (purchase+shipping). It is well known that many sellers pad shipping costs while keeping purchase costs very low.

Regarding answering emails: If you need your hand to be held, go to your LBS. They have the cost of customer service built into their prices. Abaxo is not in the customer service business. That seller clearly operates as a shipping machine. Probably wakes up, checks what sold, puts it in boxes, and ships it. Some things that he/she has are a really good price. Others not so much.

I recently purchased several items from Abaxo's eBay store because they had the lowest total cost.

Interestingly enough I happened to get a set of lock-on grips that was missing one of the screws. Because of what I read on the web I was pretty sure I was going to get - screwed.

I sent the following to Abaxo:
Hi there,
I have an incomplete item. I thoroughly searched the packaging but it appears the one of the screws that locks the grip on to the bar is missing. Can you send me a screw?

Thanks
Dan

I got back:
Dear Abaxo Customer,
Thank you for your email!
I apologize for the problem. We will send you a another screw today.

Thank you very much for your business!

And they actually sent me the screw

So currently it looks like there are people at Abaxo that care about customer satisfaction. They may not wanna hold your hand and answer questions, but they are a good source for parts.:thumb:

I have ordered a number of items from them and although the shipping prices are ridiculusly high, the items are usually cheap enough to make it woth it. In one instance they sent me a wrong part (Alivio instead of Deore) and didn't initially respond to my emails, when I filed a complaint with eBay thay responded and took care of the exchange. My opinion is that they don't have the staff to take care of issues in a timely matter without getting eBay involved.

I have used them and was happy with the transaction. Yes, their shipping prices are high. You just gotta shop around and find what you're comfortable with.

Dealt with Abaxo a few times myself, for things I couldn't get anywhere else; yup, shipping is high, but the total cost was still reasonable.

Anybody familiar with "white carbon" bar ends? They are sweeeet!

I purchased from abaxo a couple times this summer with no issues. The product was sent in standard USPS mailing envelopes (like nearly everyone else on ebay).

As with all things ebay to be aware of: sellers will ship items as cheap as possible which means something boxed (in an actual box) as nice as Performance or Nashbar most likely won't happen. Also, make sure you factor the shipping cost into the total cost of the item.

Wow...I've had nothing but good experiences with Abaxo on ebay. I've bought tons of stuff from them over the past few years...never an issue. In all honesty, I would suspect they are in the same "trap" as a lot of small businesses get into...too few people, too much business....not enough time. Just my thoughts though.

EDIT: super...just saw that this was a thread from 2008! Well....I stand by my post anyway! ;)

Still haven't hear from Abaxo..I filed a claim to my refund on E-bay..I did get the refund but the return shipping cost is my loss...Abaxo sent me an e-mail and they told me they will refund my return cost. Did not happened.. Lied to my face... Contacted Ebay they able to see the e-mail, but they say they cant help. My only option to report Abaxo to ebay violating the rules and make false promises..I did and waiting for a replay.

Still haven't hear from them. Ebay haven't contacted me either..So they sent me a wrong item promised to pay me a return shipping.. They haven't even payed the refund yet , and what about a return shipping. Not even once they replay to my e-mails..Don't tell me this is a small stuff issue with to much business... You are funny if they have so much costumer since 2008 , why they don't hire someone to take care of costumers. You know why , because they don't care about you...And if someone is willing to take a chance with them,,, GOOD LUCK.....
