I am fixing an x-mart bike for my boy. I need bearings for the crank. The existing caged bearings are ruined and have no markings to boot. Will LBS have parts like that for x-mart bikes?

I wouldnt bother to fix it if it didnt already have a really cool paint job on it. My kids and I tore it down and painted it JD Green with decals and all. It looks pretty good.

You can probably get parts at the LBS. You might have to order them but they'll be cheap. Bring the bike with you so they can measure.

You don't need the cage. Just bring in the bearings so the LBS can measure the size for you, buy a bunch more than you had when it was caged and repack whatever it came out of loose.

Hehe- I recently rebuilt a Chinese MTB. There was a definite "clunk" to the crank, an old-style fixed-and-adjustable cup model.
When I got it apart (the cranks must have been installed by retired sumo wrestlers!) I found that it had never been assembled properly. There was no sign that the bearings had ever made contact with the spindle surfaces at all!

Don't worry, the bearing sizes will be standard, and as the guys say, you don't need the cage.
