hi there, everyone.
my real name is jun sanchez, i'm 45 years old and i'm from manila, philippines. like the rest of the world, our country is being hit hard by the high cost of fuel.
more than a month ago, in order to save on gas on short trips, i was "forced" to buy a used/surplus bike that was imported from japan. it really isn't much to look at. but as the days passed by, i began to marvel at the beauty of its shape, the elegance of its curves (despite the dents, dings and rusts; remember it's a surplus bike) and then i remembered that bicycle was my favorite toy in the world when i was a kid.
so now, riding my bike to save on fuel has become secondary to my affection to it. i really enjoy riding it, especially when my daughter is riding with me at the back carrier. i also enjoy looking at it, despite its ugliness.
so here i am, hoping to become part of a community of people who love bicycles either as an object to marvel at or as a mode of transportation or a means to a better health or all of them.
i also would like to learn as much as i can about bicycles so as to know what to look for when i get my next bike or when i decide to upgrade or refurbish my current bike. i am geographically-constrained, though, because of where i live. the best i can look or hunt for are used japanese bikes and parts, they abound here.
thanks a lot and well done on your wonderful forum.
my warmest regards to everyone.
