I'm looking for trisuit suggestions for non-wetsuit events. Something I can wear for the entire race. Mainly sprint and oly distance with plans of jumping up to HIM / IM. Hope to have a wetsuit by then.

I started to answer, but then I got confused by your question... Are you looking for an alternative to a wetsuit - or what you would wear underneath the wetsuit?

An alternative to a wetsuit if they are not allowed in the race. Something I can wear the entire race.

In theory I could just wear some trishorts and then put on a top during T1. I'm just looking for some one-piece solutions.

They make one piece tri suits. With a tank-top style top & longer (or shorter) shorts. There are lots of brands out there, de soto, speedo, tyr, orca, zoot etc....

I have a two piece suit, but wish it was a one piece....

Google search tri suit, or check out beginnertriathlete.com or trinewbies.com

Gracias.

I've been in touch with De Soto as well as Kiwami. Still looking at some others.

So, do you just where one suit the whole race? Or do people generally change for the run?

You can wear a tri suit for the whole race. A good tri suit is form-fitting for the swim and bike and has a small chamois pad for the bike (it's small so it doesn't get in the way on the run).

Also, some companies make what's called a "swim skin", "skin suit" or something like that. One example is the swim skin that Blue Seventy makes. They're designed to be worn *over* your normal tri apparel on the swim portion of non-wetsuit swims. These are usually not designed to be worn on the bike and run, with the exception of some high-end garments that are designed to have hydrodynamic characteristics.

Is this the norm, or to some people change cloths every transition?

For shorter races, most (if not all) racers will wear one set of clothing for the entire race. Some racers will put on a singlet or jersey after the swim, but participants rarely completely change clothes (aka put on new shorts, or a second jersey).

If you can get your hands on a tri suit, or tri shorts and a form-fitting top, there's really no need to completely change, as the shorts are comfortable (or at least tolerable) for all three events :)

I have two speedo fastskins. I think 50 miles is about the max I could ride in either one. Should I end up in a longer non-wetsuit swim, I suppose I would wear a pair of shorts and my top underneath one of my fastskins and take the fastskin off in T1.

For my first tri (sprint) last night, I wore my Pearl Izumi tri shorts over my performance one-piece TYR bathing suit. It was super comfy. That being said, I'll probably upgrade to a tri top and eventually a one-piece tri suit.

Picked up a Kiwami Trinergy trisuit. I have a race on Sept. 1 that I'm anxious to see how it performs. Felt great for a TT I did last week.

I just completed my first event this past Saturday. I was going to buy my team's tri singlets but the sizes available were not going to work and I ended up purchasing my one of my team's leftover one piece tri suits. Overall it felt very comfortable once i got over the fact that there was only a single Lycra garment between me and the world.

Are Kiwamis available from any US retailers, or only by ordering directly from Kiwami and having them ship (from Europe)?

They now have a US distributor, so no worries about shipping from Europe.
