Commuting - Bike Service Interval
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What is the normal service interval for routine bike maintenance? Outside of the normal tire check, chain lube, and wipedown/clean, how often should a complete look over/tighten/adjust service be done?
I am not to the point yet that I am comfortable doing this "5,000 mile oil change" myself and will have the LBS do it.

Other than what you mentioned, i do everything else (replace brake pads, replace chain/cassette, tighten cables, adjust derailleur, etc) on an as needed basis. It never needs everything at once.

Once a year. If you ride so much that you can't go a whole year, then you need to buy another bike or two and spread the miles around.:) If your bike doesn't look and feel like it needs some attention after a year, you need to ride more.:p
