Sorry guys, but I've screwed up enough on my bike that I'm not going to leave it to chance, I'll let you help me avoid another eff up.
I have a 46 tooth chain ring. I put it with a 14 tooth cog and the thing is about impossible to stop. So what size cog should I go with?
My initial thought is 17, but will that be a really low gear ratio?
hahah 46/14 is a high ratio, thats why. about 86 or 87 gear inches
yeah i'd go 46/17 . around 71 gear inches and 17 skid patches
72 is not really low. I'm running 68 and i like it. Go with the 17. 46/14 on the other hand is way too high.

Thanks guys. I was so sad when I finally got the thing put together and realized there was know way it can be ridden.

do a 17 cog on the back

What sucks is that I ordered the 14 thinking I already had a 17. But I didn't realize my 17 was 1/8".
So now it's going to be another $35 for a cog. I've already put $700 into this thing and it doesn't even ride nicely. The headset is all effed up and the brake calipers are too short.
You kids better know what you're doing before you get into the hell that is doing a conversion.
