obviously a dark horse gc man at the start, but the dude is climbing like thor huschov after hitting the all you can eat 3.95 lunch buffet.
Is it the long 7 percent grinders that kill him or is he a dyed in wool one day man?

its hard to believe he won the giro the way he has been riding these last two years
he is not a happy camper at the tour this year...funny how giro winners so often have a terrible time at the tour.
he has not been the same since his bout with mono. he's one of my favorite racers, I wish he'd find that groove again, bet he'll have it at lombardia!

I'm curious what made him think he could contend in the Tour when in the past years he has been unable to even reach the podium of the Giro. Plus his Giro win was as a result of ambushing his own teammate and the defending Giro champion (Gilberto Simoni) who wasn't past his prime and deserved better treatment and respect from his team and management. At no time during that Giro (2004) did he show himself to be even equal to Simoni.
Cunego should focus on week long mountainous stage races, Giro di Lombardia and the Ardennes Classics.
That is where he will excell.

Except for the year he won the Giro.
I'm betting that he's just had a few bad years given his bout with mono. Regardless, time will tell. A rider with the form and class to win the Giro certainly has the potential to win le Tour.
