Hey guys,

I'm looking for a bike for my girlfriend and don't plan to spend too much. She just needs something to ride around in, so nothing too expensive.

I was looking for a frame similar to this one,

If I can't find one online, what should I be looking for as far as quality.
As you can tell, I'm not that familiar with bicycles.

Try and find a shop that carries Electra brand bikes. They make women's specific cruisers.

The problem with cruisers is finding big frames (which pretty much don't exist)- they're ALL small- so the 4'-10" shouldn't be that much of a problem. (But, to be honest, the women's frames should be smaller than the men's, so that specific bike may not work well).

If you have an REI in your area, check there.

Too true.
If the ones with 26" wheels don't work out, go with an old one with 24" wheels, it would probably be better too since they don't command as high of a price.

you could buy a frameset and wheels and build one up with parts between www.Nirve.com and www.Bicycledesigner.com

Check Giant.com. My wife, 5'2", bought an FCR3 in XS frame size. There is one size even smaller.

Hey guys,

I've been looking around and most cruiser bikes were to big for her having 26" wheels.

Would replacing these wheels w 24"/22" wheels make much of a difference?

Well, it would make a difference as in your pedals are going to hit the ground every time they go around.

On a serious note, just get an old ladies 24" cruiser, I don't know where you live but it really shouldn't be all that hard.

They also have a "petite" line with 24" wheels.

Their Ladies Sport Cruisers are pretty cool too.

but yeah +1 on finding an old ladies cruiser on Craigslist or something...they are all over the place for aroun $100 in my area.
