Road Cycling - Connecticut riders....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am currently abiding in the town of Hamden, CT. I am wondering if there are any riders around the area who know of places to go ride where its safe...there is a bit of snow around these parts, and do i need mention the FREEZING temps we have been haveing letely. I was just curious as to what CT riders do in the winter in times like these....where to go is also a question???
THanks
How's Quinnipiac U? I'm guessing that's where you are.
Buy a trainer...seriously though, I'm in Wallingford and haven't been outside in a LONG time. But I do see other people out.
There are quite a few bike shops locally... D'Anelio's Amity Bike, Wallingford Bike, North Haven Bike, etc.
Shoot me an e-mail, maybe when it gets warmer we can ride.

Hey man...yea, so damn cold out. People who go out in this are nuts. I was thinking of getting an indoor trainer but I do not have sufficient funds at the moment, as you know QU is quite expensive, haha. But yea, when it warms up I would totally be up for a nice ride. I ususally go on the farmington canal trail. Back and fourth can be like 20-24 miles. So not to bad. Where do you usually ride?
I am a diehard winter person, love the cold and snow, but since I got my trek in december, I've been praying for warmth, but it does not look likely anytime soon.
Think warmth man
I ride the area around where I live...in Wallingford.
I got my masters from QU in 2002.
I plan on buying a trainer this week, well maybe next week depending on funds, etc.

Oh...what do you have a degree in from here??
Also, which trainer are you thinking about?
My degree from QU is journalism.
As far as a triner I was torn between the Elite Volare fluid and the CycleOps fluid 2...but I think it'll be the CycleOps, simply because once it's adjusted it's easy to remove/replace the bike.

Cool....Yea, the cycleops fluid 2 is a great trainer ive heard. People say that its the quietest and one of the easiest to use. USPS uses them im pretty sure, so they have to be pretty damn good, right?

Hey all. I grew up in Bethel Conn and there is great riding over there. Rides down To West Port, Candlewood and Putnam lakes or out Rt 58 through Redding is beautiful. I used to commute to the Danbury Airport where I worked and I hated the Winters. Fortunatly it was only about a 5mile commute. But funny you mensioned it I just got a nice new ride and went out in the cold on saturday after building up the bike. Today we have 6in snow on the ground! I love the winter too but I realy wanna ride my new bike :(
