Hey Monk,
At 6:00AM it was 38F/3C and raining. Now its 3:00PM and the temperature is 6F/-14C and 3"/7.5cm of snow on top of a nasty layer of ice. :(
I must admit, the cold and snow only hangs around for short periods of time. With the next Chinook wind we'll be back to dry roads!
Stay warm! :D

Nope, I just got back from the park from riding with my daughter and going to the playground.
Rode in shorts and jersey and played in shorts and tee shirt.
It is a rough winter here. ;)

<snip> I'm not alone in my misery....
Nope, your not alone. :) A bikejournal.com friend of mine in Cardston, AB is in the boat with us too. Not to mention all of our forum friends in the Twin Cities. Just think, 5 more months until the weather warms up... :D

Its raining here today so I am glad I rode yesterday. Not too cool but the rain makes it too dangerous out on the roads here with all our good drivers.
Rain cleared here, heading towards a high of 70F.
perfect weather for a nice ride. . .
Yo BeardedMonk what is that white stuff all over the
place? :D

You dont have to be in NORTHERN Canada to feel the cold this year. I'm in the banana belt of Canada and it hasn't been much better.
Today's forecast from the weather network:
St. Catharines, Ontario January 25, 2004
FEELS LIKE -22°C
WIND SW 11 km/h GUSTS
RELATIVE HUMIDITY 78%
DEWPOINT -18°C
PRESSURE 102.87 kPa
VISIBILITY 24 km
CEILING unlimited
... but it's always nice to have an unlimited ceiling, give ya lots of headroom.

Although digging my car out of a snowbank just to get out the drive does not sound like my kind of place to live I would like at least a couple of good snowfalls to play in. I usually end up driving up to North Carolina when I hear it snowed up there just to get out in it.

We are getting hit with what our local weather forcasters call an "Alberta Clipper". I wish you Canadians would keep your "Clippers" to yourselves.  :p

I'm in Rhode Island, but it may as well be Northern Canada here. It's
12 degrees right now and dropping. The weathermen say it's been the coldest winter on record in over 20 years. The daytime temps have struggled to reach the 20's and more snow is on the way. I've seen a few brave souls out on their bikes, but when it's in the single digits and teens, I want to be INSIDE. Last time I rode was the 2nd week of December. Spring can't come fast enough around these parts.

I think we get an average of 150in of snow each year.
I feel its too dangerous to go on long rides. Partially because there is never any open pavement, and partially because the snowbanks and driving conditions don't exactly provide a safe enviornment for cyclists.
Its hardly gotten above 10F here the last few weeks.
It all makes me really appreciate every nice summer day! If I don't go riding when the weather is nice in the summer, I feel like I'm wasting an oppurtunity! :D

I've got lots of snow here in Alberta -- at least 6-8 inches.
My daughter is in Manitoba and she has two winter problems: snow (of course) and very icy roads. So she can't even commute. She did try riding on it, but fell. Other riders there are also hampered.
The only redeeming thought is that we are near the end of January. February will be bad and so will the first half of March. We could see spring as early as the "Ides of March"
geez no sooner do I open my mouth than mother
nature decides to prove me wrong.
It was actually 74F yesterday, with winds gusting
to 40mph (makes for a fun ride).
Dropping down towards the mid 20's tonight, with
the weather map showing some funny white stuff
falling from clouds. Whats up with that?
My one comment on all the extreme cold, whatever
happened to global warming? :D
(expects to hear heated debate about changing weather
patterns, of which we know almost nothing!).

It's nice and great here! We got up to -20 C today, which means it's cold enough for the roads to be clean rather than sloppy.
Just dress comfortably with long underwear, trousers, rain pants (for additional windproofing), shirt, sweater, second sweater, vest, windjacket, 2 scarves, toque, 2 pairs of socks, boots, 2 pairs of gloves and a helmet, and you're ready for a long bike ride. It works great as long as one doesn't stop pedalling: Shimano freehubs don't always "freehub" at -20 or -25 C.

Hmmm ... I don't know. When I got home from work last night, my wife was in a foul mood. I went outside into the Chicago night just to warm up :fight:
