I agree.....kindoff :o We REALLY like watching remakes of old films, its like a hobby! We have fun comparing the two films and asking each other what we like or dislike about the new one. :) Like "I am Legend", didnt like it at all :( but Ive seen the orig "Last Man on Earth" many times and I REALLY like, and the remake, "The Omega Man" and liked Omega Man a whole lot more! Its just fun. :thumb:

That part is pretty much true about all movies. Who told this guy he could act?

What, you can't imagine Keanu saying "Klaatuu ferada niktu"? That's how most of his lines sound anyway, even when he's speaking English.

Instead of remaking old films they should just play them backwards. Cool stuff happens. Jaws becomes a movie about a friendly shark that swims around throwing up people.

I actually liked I Am Legend better than Omega Man. I've never liked Charleton Heston's acting style. He forced the movie to be about him. Will Smith, oddly enough, sunk into the movie. But the Day the Earth Stood Still is not an action movie. It wasn't about special effects or showing how you could make things blowing up the coolest thing blowing up ever. It was a movie about human's ability to destroy themselves. Sure, compared with CG, there were some pretty cheesy parts, but hasn't ever taken from the core of the movie. Adding special effects and CG will only distract from that message, if that message is even still in the flick.

I think everyone should watch the original, because it still has meaning. It still shows us that we have control over our own destiny. I'm afraid this new one will only be entertainment.

So what did you think about "Last Man on Earth" with the late great Vincent Price?

There are no new ideas in hollywood.

+1, just look at all the films Hollywood is ripping off wholesale from Asia (i.e. The Departed, all the j-horror, etc.) Hollywood pumps out garbage.

Hollywood also ruined a lot of great foreign TV shows, like The Office, Coupling, Iron Chef, etc. Now the latest disaster is trying to copy the great (or should I just say goofy) Japanese game shows.

So true, only what I've heard is that they're not knocking off Japanese game shows, but what their perception of what a Japanese game show is.

Sure there is---that spot on the sidewalk where Lindsey Lohan puked. It's a shrine now. People are leaving that fake plastic vomit, and teddy bears and balloons of course.

It was seeing him in "Much Ado About Nothing" that really surprised me. What was Branagh thinking?

"Hath a dude not eyes....?"

There are no new ideas in hollywood.

I heard today that the new X-Files opens tomorrow.
That's one that should have been left in the planning room.
Even Fonzie did not jump the shark like the X-Files

It would be cool if the entire movie was 360 degree pans of frozen action (ala Matrix) with no dialog.

I have a new goal in life.

Find the person who put the final stamp of approval on the remake of the movie in question, and punch them in the throat.

I can buy that Heston focuses his movies too much around himself, but Will Smith is the last guy I'd pick as a counterpoint (although I haven't seen I am Legend)

That's what I thought, but, oddly enough, it works.

"Klattu Barada Nikto"

I cannot imagine how badly Keanu Reeves will screw up what is one of the most classic lines in science fiction history.

Perhaps someone could punch him the throat so he can't speak.

Yup, Watchmen looks to be a rip off of Batman, silver surfer and other various Marvel Comics Super heros  and Tropic Thunder looks like it going to be REALLY funny  but just about anything with Jack Black and Ben Stiller is prob going to be a least a bit amusing = )

Tropic Thunder looks like an amazing movie...I really hope that it is, and isn't a fluke.

Not all remakes are bad. I liked the newer version of "The Manchurian Candidate," though I didn't see the older one. Has anyone here seen it?

I guarantee you the car chase scenes and the surfing scenes will be better in the remake.
