Hi all, I'm a newbie here but in the mid 1990's I used to ride often and although I didn't race I was pretty quick and really enjoyed the sport. My bike is a Tange steel framed Bianchi Virata with oversize downtube and Ultegra components with downtube shifters.

It's great to be back into the sport and in the last month I've already dropped about 10 pounds and am getting faster.

What really shocks me about modern bikes is the low weight and high cost. My bike was $1200.00 in 1992 but it looks like a comparable bike might be $3K now with high end bikes running $7-8K. Also, my lightened bike weighs about 21 pounds which seems to be obese these days.

I have newer Ultegra pedals on order and bought some new Specialized Comp Pro shoes.

It's great to be back into cycling and any input and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike.

Hey Mike.

I'm in Arizona now, but I used to live not too far from you. Always nice to see more Michigan people joining. :)

Welcome back to the cycling world. Lots of great rides around the metro area. Check out Kensington and Stony Creek. Lots more information too from lmb.org

Hi Mike, it may seem as if you should go for the lighter weight, newer bike, but that Tange steel frame is probably a lot smoother riding! Any photos?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
