Hi I have a Crystalite 36V (20A) Immediate Start motor controller, and would like to know if it's feasible to convert it to Pedal First mode. The problem is water appears to have infiltrated my Hall sensor in the motor so I can no longer get motor to run normally (without grinding to halt 5 seconds later). Even turning wheel by hand (no throttle) with motor and Hall leads connected gives grinding/clicking sound. Without a working Hall sensor I cannot use my otherwise perfectly good Immediate start controller with my (Crystalite 407 36V motor). My only other option is to buy such a controller for $95. Any suggestions welcomed

thanks, dc

This isn't the answer you are looking for, but it may help you fix the motor.

Thanks. I was aware of the article. Got a partial credit and bought Pedal First version. Will see tomorrow if that solved the problem.

It works great, so it pretty much proves the problem was with the hall sensors in the hub.. I would advise anyone considering purchase of e-bike kit to avoid Immediate Start for this reason alone. The added "inconvenience" of having to reach a few km/hr before motor engages is so insignificant.
That being said, does anyone want to buy a perfectly good Immediate Start? Make me an offer! It was $100 when new.
