During the Alpe d'Huez stage, Bobke mentioned that Frank Schleck (and apparently many others) have their names on the various signs that number the 21 hairpin turns. What do you have to do to get your name on those signs -- win the Alpe d'Huez stage?

Not my hero, FYI. That's another thing you don't know. I was always a Jan fan and still am even though he was a doper. The pro-every-American cyclist thing so prevalent on these boards doesn't apply to me at all. What I said isn't even remotely in defense of Lance anyway. It is in defense of truth and being truthful. As for whether I "believe" he was so good without drugs, etcetera, it's not my place to believe or disbelieve. I don't know, and I act like I don't. When I do know, I'll act like I do. Do I suspect? you know, not for nothing, but after I got hit by a car a couple seasons ago, I took more than 3 minutes out of my time in the 40k within 2 months of coming back to the bike.

All that changed was my capacity to withstand pain.

We ride with more than our bodies.

maybe everyone else had to dope to have a chance with him in the field.

After what he went through to fight cancer, his capacity to endure pain went up and the race meant more to him than it did before. Probably meant more to him than anyone else in the field.

I'm surprised Schlek's name is there. I thought they quit doing it when they named all 21 (??) switchbacks. I remember hearing that Lance was the first winner who would NOT have a switchback named after him because they were all named already.
