Foo - Found anything interesting/valuable on a ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I found about $5 in change in the bike lane on my commute home yesterday! Maybe someone had dropped their wallet or purse, didn't see one though - if I had of I would of looked up the owner and given it back to them. Anyone else found anything valuable or interesting while out cycling?

One day, on the way home from work, I found someone's REI card...then his social security card...then a visa, then a military ID, then a costco card of his and finally his movie rental store card. Amazingly, he had something listed on Craigslist, so I contacted him later that night and got his stuff back to him.

Same day, I found $20 a few miles away.

I was riding a local bike trail and found a bike computer one afternoon. I took it home and was trying to figure out what to do with it when my dad came home. He told me that when he was riding to work that morning, he had hit a bump and his computer flew off. He spent about 5 minutes looking for it and couldn't find it, so he just kept going to work. Yep...I found it.

I always see single work gloves around town. If I collected them I'd probably have several sets by now.

All of my bungee cords!

Some of those are mine.

But I'm sure I've found some of your shoes. We can trade. PM me. :D

p.s. I keep waiting to find a stray shoe with a foot still in it. Is that weird?

I found a checkbook with a bunch of credit cards in cover. I called the phone number on the checks, and the guy's fax tried to pick up. So I faxed him my phone number and informed him I'd like to return his stuff.
When he came to my office to pick up his stuff, he asked if I had found his car registration, too. He went to the DMV (a block from where I found his stuff) and forgot his wallet, checkbook, and vehicle info on the roof of the car after he put his new plates on. D'oh!

Last weekend when I was riding, I found a big ol' patch of P. azurescens growing in somebody's flower bed. That was interesting (and could be valuable) :)

Same here! :) Found a bag of Swedish Fish on my ride today. No, I didn't pick it up.

I have actually seen some undies in the middle of the road. They were females and most definitely not granny panties. I would like to know who the owner is and why they were in the middle of the road.:innocent:

We found a full can of Miller Light on the side of the road once. It had been lying there so long the label was faded, but that didn't stop my friend from drinking it on a dare. I think we gave him more grief because it was Miller Light than for drinking a beer we found on the side of the road.

my regular mountain bike ride is down a dirt road where people throw out their garbage. The best thing I have found is a pole lamp with working bulb, and a hanging light. I have also found an oxygen tank, a box of country cassettes, I once found a weed eater and before I could go back to get it someone else had picked it up. all kinds of crap.

I have found many ejected waterbottles at the state park, and a dollar laying in a bike lane at the beach.
