Recently I picked up this great Eddy Merckx Cima 2000 frame. Wicked good deal too. However, the seller had mentioned that the left seat stay had a small dent in it (though he assured me that it was nothing to worry about). Upon receiving the frame, I was finally able to see what he was talking about. The dent seems small. It's about 2-3cm long, the width of the seat stay, and maybe 1mm deep. Everyone I've shown the frame to hardly notices it, and when they do, they too think its no big deal. (I tend to agree with them). So what I'd like to know is when is a dent/ding something to worry about? and, what areas of a bike frame incur the greatest amounts of stress, where a dent could compromise the structure's integrity?

I do plan on racing this frame, and I just want to be sure that it's not going to buckle under me if I'm pushing it hard.

I've included a picture of the seat stay, but i'm not sure if its gonna post.

Ride it like your pants are on fire.

Looks like nothing to worry about.
