Road Cycling - 105 hubs?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Are they any good. I can get a set of Mavic CXP21 rims and 105 hubs at a good price. I want to use them for everyday riding and training. I know they are not a racing wheelset. I want something that will hold up. I weigh 190.

They are good hubs. If you wan them to last a long time, go ahead and open them up and make sure there is plenty of grease. Sometimes Shimano ships them pretty dry. Then overhaul them every couple of thousand miles and they will last years.

I have had mavic, suntour, sugino etc. for normal riding and racing, Today I still use the shimano 105 hubs for regular riding and racing, I am 5'11" and weigh apx 195 , so the shimano hubs should hold up, just be sure to keep the bike tuned and wheels true :D

I had the same setup you are talking about, 105 hubs, cxp21 rims, on my old road bike. They had probably 2000 miles in them and would spin forever, very smooth. Didnt have any problems with them.

Rev, what are the most common cone wrench sizes I will need? I only have Shimano hubs. Also what other tools do I need to do the job right?

13,15,17 cone wrenches, 17 open end wrench, and if you have a vice get a cheap park axle vice, it makes it a lot easier to work on hubs.(If you don't have a vice go to Northern and get a cheap small one, they are handy)
