Bicycle Mechanics - Workshop or Kitchen Table

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
How many of you guys have your own bike workshop? I was cleaning out mine today as it had become a store for all sorts of crap over the holidays. I built it last year as I had become fed up with trying to work in the house(not to mention getting nagged by the wife ;) ).
It's 10x8 feet and is pretty well decked out with tools and storage but I could always use more of both.
I have a spot in my basement...although, it too has become (always was) a catch-all. Slowly, I'm working it in to be mostly a bike area.
The biggest problem I have is the clearance height for my head. My house is a 1920 so I need to be very careful moving around down there. Duck or Bump I guess.

My Dad was a keen amatuer carpenter, so when he bought our house, outbuildings were a big factor. That's why I now have a huge (20x50 feet or so) workshop full of tools to play in. Two great big workbenches, two bench vices, table saw (great for cutting brake cables :) ), 1/2 size snooker table (don't ask), heaps of hand tools, lots of bike-specific ones I've bought over the years (the usualy stuff, cone wrenches, chain whip, homemade truing stand etc), and a welder and a compressor just in case.

A table in the spare room and the balcony for me. We live in an apartment at the moment, so I can't really set up a permanent work area. Sometimes I'll wander down to the garage if doing work on more than one of the bikes, but I prefer to keep the tools upstairs and it's usually easier to carry the bike up rather than the tools down. :)
One thing I'm definitely looking for in a house purchase is a good spot to set up as a workshop.
Since I've gotten 2 new (to me) bikes since Christmas and haven't been on a bike since 1991, my office is getting kind of tight. I suppose once the novelty of them being new rubs off, I'll move everything into the garage, where there is a good and well-hidden-from-street-view space.
Just a matter of getting organized.

I'm converting an 11x14 room in my house right now since I don't have a garage. Just finished painting a workbench I picked up at a school auction for $5.00. The top is butcherblock that looks great after sanding and a couple applications of linseed oil.
During warmer months, my truck is banished from the barn I call a garage. I took an old door, screwed a piece of plywood to it and hinged it to the wall. That way it can be folded out of the way if required.
During our bouts of -20°F weather, when I'm usually doing maintenance overhauls, I move down cellar (not down into the cellar....local dialect). Gets a little chilly down there, but the plus side is the beer stays cold.
