Red means someone who is online
Black means offline.

Hi shubonker! Also, a red star by one's name signifies a paying member, a blue star is a moderator, three blue stars is an administrator.
The little eagle by the side of my name is an Igor, which indicates that a member has made a charitable contribution which benefits the cause of cycling.

Red means someone who is online
Black means offline.
If a member is online but in "invisible mode" (see User Control Panel) the name is black.
