Foo - Pick some sunglasses for Wordbiker

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today I won the competition at work selling Smith sunglasses (http://www.smithoptics.com/), and now I'm entitled to a free pair.

Thing is, I already have a pair of Reactors and a pair of Factors as well as Oakley Crosshairs and a pair of Livestrong Radars. I never wear the Factors and will probably give them to my Dad who loves them. The Radars are my cycling glasses, the Crosshairs my "casual" glasses and the Reactors are just great all-rounders given to my by our rep.

Now I'd like to try something different, perhaps an Interlock style so I can relate my experience with them to customers. Although I'm good at helping customers pick a style that fits them...I'm one of those guys that's notoriously bad at making fashion choices for myself (just ask Siu :().

I'd love some Foo input on what you'd select for me. I'll provide the prettiest picture of myself to help you along.

Restrictions: The glasses have to be $149 or less and I need a second choice in case it's OOS.

Hmmm...it's a bold look, perhaps appropriate for Mardi Gras.

Got anything else?

Congrats. Get a back up for your current pair in the same style. Either that, or ask around the shop and see if any of the guys need some glasses and swing a deal. BTW, I can see the straw.

I did consider getting a second pair of Reactors.

They are available in a Photochromic model...unfortunately they're over the $149 limit.

The Bauhaus might be a nice casual pair and is available in a Photochromic model with a large fit frame.

BTW...thanks Allen for the sweet photochop. That got a smile. :)

If I could sing like Fred Schneider...do you think I'd be selling glasses and working on bikes?

http://www.smithoptics.com/uploads/products/products_8_252_9.jpgThose look pretty nice and simple, though I'm not a huge fan of glasses/sunglasses with huge, thick arms like that. Blocks the vision and all. I'm a glasses wearer, so I guess it's not as big a deal on sunglasses.

No way, but it helps to explain the invisbile straw. BTW, you are gonna have a hard time finding a helmet.

I am far too uncool to appreciate let alone wear sunglasses named after countertop appliances.

Wordbiker
07-25-08, 10:03 PM
I guess I'm getting away from the sliders.

The whole Interlock concept was due to sliders losing their ability to hold a lens over time. Drop the glasses, the lens pops out. With the interlock, the frame surrounds the lens and can't fall out...leaving me torn. I guess that's why I like the Reactor as it has no frame on the bottom yet still takes a drop. I had a pair of Monster Dogs that got very annoying when I checked my cell while driving due to the thick bottom frame.

Yah.

WB, it seems to me that you sway toward the squared off shapes. Have you tried any shaped like the above?

Yep, we have those in the shop.

Guess I'm more shying away from the older styles than toward any one thing. Here's the Reactors I have:
