Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Trek 800 for an Uber Clyde?

Hi all, I'm an uber clyde at 410#s....Is a Trek 800 Mountain Tracking Sport bike a good idea for me? After reading the threads for a mountain bike, I see that rigid forks and steel frames are supposed to be good for my size......please give me your opinions.

I'm thinking of doing asphalt bike trails and some light off road trails. The size seems right for me. Also, what kind of tire should i use for this bike......it has 26 inch knobby tires already.

For paved bike trails and roads, you'll want street tires. I changed my rear out to a City Slicker by Tioga...bad rear tire and not enough money to change the front too...and have been pleased so far. But, there are probably others out there who can suggest another tire more suitable for your weight.

Geax Evolution, or pretty much any 26X 1.5 high pressure slick will work....

I had an 820 some time ago and it was built like a brick $h1t house!! I think you will be ok with that frame if it fits you, and tires like Tom stated.

I loved my 820, but it got stolen :(
