How are you all doing on your goals this Year? We'll be half way through next week:
1. My main goal is 12000 miles...just cause. I hit 6003 today!!!!hip hip hurray...ouch my hip  OOOOPs! I'm a month behind.......DOH!
2.Did the Aids ride
3.rode a double with NorCal'rs
4.Made more friends!!!
5. Been slapped by half the NorCal gals...few more to go...most painful=JoBob ...owie :twitchy:

Let's see - my goal for the end of July is to be 7 months through the year (I think I like your calendar better!):)
Goals:
Train to finish Death Ride - done
Tour of Unknown Coast - done
Death Ride - done
Drop 20 pounds - :(
Keep up with Taxi and Bostic on a group ride - :(
Overall, I'm doing pretty good, all things considered. The rest of the year won't be so good - I already know I won't be able to do 2 tough centuries that I really wanted to (Shasta Summit and Grizzly), and a bunch of friends are suffering through the Santa Cruz Mountain Challenge today - too much family stuff going on, and I missed too much stuff with the kids this spring. I'll still get a lot of riding in, though.

I have my doubts on if that was most painful. You probably enjoyed it.
I didn't have any real goals other than to lose some weight and get into a shape other than round.
As of today, I'm down 25 pounds. I've ridden a metric century too. Started up at the very end of April, so I think I'm doing ok.

Well, I didn't set any goals, other than enjoying my ride. No triple crown goal this year ... no double century goal this year. No century-a-month goal ... but I did accomplish one thing that I didn't plan out at the beginning ... I completed my first time trial. Beat the Clock Canada Road, in less than 30 minutes. Now I was really proud of that!

So far so good, although I had more limited mileage goals than most of you hardcore guys.
- Improve from last year mileage (1000 miles): Done; 1200 so far.
- Ride 3 centuries: Done; Wine Country, Sequoia, and Death Ride.
- Get into Death Ride lottery: Done.
- Train for Death Ride and see if I can ride it: OK but not as much training as I expected to do.
- Try to complete the Death Ride: Done; 5 passes, 125 miles, 15000' of climbing, 50+ mph, all personal records.
- Climb the 3 Bay Area mountains: Almost, Mt. Hamilton still missing.
Bonus: I went down from 190 to 175 Lb.
Rest of year will be more dedicated to family life and work on home. Although I am planning to join some BF rides, especially in the second half of August. I might add another century (Eastern Sierra?).

I haven't gone near a scale in a while, but I really haven't lost weight this year - just redistributed some of it.

I dropped about 20 pounds so far. I need to change my routine because I have lost anything in about 1 1/2 weeks. My wife said she can wrap her arms around me now. :)
JoelS-Good job, keep it up.

My only real goal was to do the Death Ride and get back into cycling. done and done.
104,000 feet of climbing since I got the bike in early April. 1500+ miles.
I started at a hair over 214lbs. I was at 187 this morning but I've seen as low as 184 recently. It's a fine weight for me, not really trying to lose more. If I do over time, great, but I am a pretty big guy so I only get so light.
Already thinking of goals for next year. Triple crown + 2009 STP and Death Ride? We'll see.
How was STP, anyway?

Yes, yes, everything is good. It was a very slow crash, more like a lay down.
Details:
I am currently using Mtb. pedals and cleats on my roadbike. The standard shimano mtb cleat has 2 screws that lock it into the shoe. Well, while out on my ride, my right cleat ejected one of the screws, leaving me literally stuck in the pedal because now when I turned my foot to release, the cleat spun freely on the 1 screw still holding it in.
I didn't know, it was feeling lose on my descent so I figured I'd pop it out at the bottom of the hill and take a look, well I twisted and pulled, nothing,.. twisted harder, nothing, I turned nearly 90 degrees to the crank, still nothing, although my over commited motion cause me to list over to my right side. The momentum and my over commitment, not to mention my foot being stuck cause me to go down. Wasn't very fast, and since my right foot was litterally sideways most of the impact was on my booty. I had to take off my shoe to get it off the bike, pain. :(
I have a pair of speedplay pedals and cleats just sitting in my toolbox, I'll be switching to them as soon as I get a pair of road shoes.

last-minute goal: learn how to change a flat in less than 10 minutes. Done. Record is now 6.5 minutes. We'll see if I remember how to do it the next time a flat should happen.

Just like riding... you must hydrate.
No specific goals other than SF Marathon... had to bag that due to unpreparedness.
Now I just need to focus on gaining more fitness and having a decent CX season.
Canada TT showed I wasn't where I should be (whereever that is) for the end of July.
One fully wasted day. :(Hey, I wasted my entire weekend. DVDs, video games, and several naps. Wooo! :P

Hey, I wasted my entire weekend. DVDs, video games, and several naps. Wooo! :P
Now that's my type of weekend, especially the naps.
OK, I’ll play:
Break 20 minutes on Old La Honda: Check, 19:10 (new goal is sub-19)
Break 60 minutes on Diablo: check, 57:20 yesterday! (new goal is sub-57)
Do a few BF rides: check, but would like to do more
Do a few centuries: 2 down, at least one more to do this year
Do the Low-Key Hill Climb series: maybe
Do the Mt. Tam Hill Climb and Mt. Diablo Challenge: maybe
I did not set any real goals other than to have fun, enjoy riding and lose weight. A lot of group rides which is always enjoyable. A couple centuries and double metrics as well as the Death Ride. I am not fast at all on flats so I have been working to improve on that. My body type doesn't really work well for that but I still devote some days to focus on it.
Since I had missed out on Climb to Kaiser I had thought of the Everest Challenge but need to cut back on expenses. I don't think my body is ready for those conditions anyhow. Fortunately there are enough climbs around here where I am used to the weather. I don't like to race up hills but I do like to challenge myself with grades over 12%.

Haha, as I think cgallagh said on yesterday's ride after inciting his dogs to write in to the SPCA, "You're a mushroom,...a real fungi..." :D
