Touring - A Story on NPR About Bike Touring Across the U.S.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This afternoon the public radio program Weekend America had a story about bike touring across the country....

A quote from the story:
Far better it is to dare mighty things…even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy, nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

I heard that or at least an intro to it. They were interviewing people asking them how far they thought they could bike. It was pretty funny. My non-scientific survey resulted in an average of about 15 miles. I guess those of us that need to bike 100 miles just to feel like we've done something are abnormal. Funny my wife keeps telling me the same thing but I'm not buying it. :)

Someone at my gym asked me how far I'd ridden to get there:
"Oh, about 20 miles."
"20 miles!?! In a day!?!"
