+1 really enjoyed it, although the timing is a royal pain on the west coast. Just finished my first year back in the saddle since being a teenager, it's really added something to the Tour for me this year.

There was much to like about this years TdF. People can say what they like, but it really does get more exciting when the race remains undecided to the last.

Also, a cheers to all the cycling fans. It is amazing to see that many fans from all over the world stand shoulder to shoulder at the climbs, each cheering their favorite riders but without the need of barriers and police to keep them separate or else they fight.

This is only my second year to watch it daily and Im hooked. Very exciting Tour this year. Cant wait for next July.

This was a great Tour; I'll have to figure out a way keep this on the DVR...

I'm pumped I burned every day on to DVD with no commercials. I DVR'ed it and then when I rewatched it I used my DVD recorder and paused it during commercials. a 4 hour stage suddenly because about 20 mins. :rolleyes:

every year since ive starting watching the tour, i get so depressed after the time trial thinking its all going to be over the next day. then i watch the end and im happy until i realize no more tour.....and then for the next 11 months i have post TdF depression no matter how much cycling i watch.

At least it is on every year, plus we have classics in the spring, Giro in May, Vuelta in September... It isn't like Olympics or soccer... only once every four years. That'd suck.

I've loved it.
Now lets just hope that news doesn't come out in a few weeks that Sastre tested positive...

I agree. It really turned out to be an exciting tour! Going into it, I wasn't sure what to expect with the defending team not being there... no Discovery. etc. But I must say that I really did enjoy it!

Of course we still have the Olympics, Tour of Germany and the Vuelta before the season ends. (I know they're not Le Tour, but they're still a fix for us cycling junkies. ;) I think the Vuelta could be especially exciting with Astana and Contador going for their third of the grand tours.

We , we. watching the last moments of tour. We'll miss it. Watching them ride the Champ d'elysees; it makes one appreciate the fact. Bikes can go faster than cars .

This was the 34th year that I've followed the tour. I started back in the 70's with my brother and my Dad. Back then I didn't know much about bike racing, but my Dad patiently explained things to me and my brother. Unfortunately we didn't have the luxury of TV to bring us the daily news and had to rely on brief reports on the BBC each evening. Then came following the results in VeloNews and finally some TV coverage. We'd get excited each summer, and the 3 of us would go out for a weekend bike ride. Every time we came to a big hill, it was always the Tourmalet, or Alp d'Huez, or the Galibier. We sprint each other at city line signs for "stage wins."

I've learned a lot over the years, and each year the Tour brings back memories of those days with my brother and Dad. My father has since passed on, and I think about him dearly at this time of the year. Every time I get on my bike, I feel him riding along side me. I just want to thank each of you here for providing a fun forum to express my feelings, and also to allow me to read about yours. I don't always agree with you all, and I expect I often come across with strange opinions of my own. But the true measure of you as individuals is being able to step back and appreciate the fact that we all have those opinions, and that's all they really are. I don't believe in attacking someone because of what he or she thinks, and I'm glad I haven't been on the back side of an attack either.

I'll still continue to post on BF, though as a relative newbie here, I'll probably have to search around to find a niche. Thanks once more for putting up with me, and let's hope next year's Tour is just as exciting!

I dont know...theres just something about the Tour. I guess I'd still miss it just maybe not as much. And even if other cycling events were on TV I wouldnt be able to watch them, I'd be stuck in a classroom daydreaming about it instead.

I'm missing Phil saying "The peleton is angry today"

Dammit, I still forget to set my alarm clock ahead now that I don't have to get up so early to watch it before work. Phil used to say the angry peloton comment right about when my espresso would jump start my lower intestines. I would usually comment back to Phil, "That's not the only angry peloton here buddy!"

It's only been two days?!? Dammit.

Yeah I am bummin with no tour to watch.
