Introductions - Bicycle Pump

I have a Blackburn TrakPump TP-1 bicycle pump. My problem is, I can't get it to pump. It'a a stand-up. And when I raise the handle to pump air in the tire I'm unable to push down and begin pumping. Anyone know what can be done?

Can you pump with other pumps? I have a valve that causes me a lot of problems on my rear tire... I think the metal might be bent or something? Anyways it could be with that.. Also if the tire is already inflated it might take a lot of force to get any more air in. I am not familiar with your particular pump but on mine the last few to get it up to pressure are a bit of work. Hope that helped

Just take it in the house, raise the handle and try to push her down. Won't budge.

Ask in the Bicycle Mechanics forum as well. I've never had that occur with any of my pumps...very odd.

Usually, that happens when the stem valve doesn't get pressed down or there's an obstruction blocking air flow. A bent stem valve could cause the problem. But, East Hill is right, ask on the mech. forum.

If you have presta valves did you unscrew the small cap?

Naw, I haven't even tried it on a tire yet. You push the handle down and normally you can hear air coming out when it's not connected to a valve stem. In my case, raise the handle... Now try to push down. Can't do it. I'll try to connect to a tire then see what I can do.

If you can raise the handle but can't push down when not on a valve then it sounds like a pump problem.

Indeed it is a pump problem. Next I'll see if the manufacturer can be contacted to give me a definitive answer.
