Folding Bikes - the trek has arrived!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi whatbike,
Congrats to your nice bike!
Glad that it turned out so well. So after all your search was well worth it. Yes, this forum is of great help and yes post pics!
BTW: A suggestion: Please, I would prefer to see the pics and read the story it in the "name your bike" thread. I might be wrong but there is imho the place where all the (new owned) folders should show off first and also there it doesn't get lost for a later search. (And perhaps you like to use period/fullstop and Capital when it is appropriate? While I like to read your postings much, its quite difficult that way)
;-)

Noooo we saw them lol! We wanna see the bike in your environment! Want more detailed pics WB!
Just on the offchance I've upgraded my digital camera from a Pansonic Lumix TZ1 to a TZ5. That means I have a very nice 5 million megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom and Leica lens going cheap, Includes 2gb card if interested. It's been superseded by 2 models since so not worth that much and a bargain to be had. PM me if interested.

Aww!
Well at least you got skint getting a great bike! When you get some dosh again and want to nab a cheap well built camera look out on ebay for the older 4 million megapixel Pentax optio S4. Can get one for under £20 and takes great snaps! See:

So pleased you got your bike was worried that some corrupt courier had got their hands on it! :)
WB very pleased the biek arrived and didn't get lost! Also great to hear it is such a good ride.

I don't think i'm better than anybody thankyou and I do use punctuation. Actually I write Downtube in full all the time because it benefits Yan on search engine spiders as per his request to users on this forum.
Most of us abbreviate longer nicks sometimes. I asked WB to separate out some of his sentences that's all. I never believed all my postings were exactly perfect.
Congrats! We WANT Pics! We WANT Pics! We WANT Pics! If you're strapped for cash, you can go buy a disposable camera at your local Tesco or wherever it is you Brits buy cheap disposable stuff. When you have the film processed, they can give you a CD with the images. Cheap and easy. :)

Agreed. We'd love to see it. You can take better photos!
It's a lovely bike take some pics when you can! :)
Bet he is out on it right now. Gorgeous weather in the UK. I'm off for a ride myself!
what bike?, congratulations! When you've got a camera, I'd love to see pics too.
Most of us abbreviate longer nicks sometimes what business is it of yours? I asked WB to separate out some of his sentences that's all.
Mulleady, you seem like a nice person; but given what's quoted above, you could possibly consider the tiniest outside chance that you may not be the absolutely most qualified person to give punctuation advice.

Excuse me noteon, there is nothing wrong with my English, puncuation or grammar in general. Perhaps the odd rushed typo or error like most of us. I simply asked WB to separate some of his sentences so it's easier to read. Why start all this cr*p? Please don't patronise me either by telling me I'm a nice person and then proceeding to what you say. I refuse to get drawn into an argument with some of you guys across the pond.
Thankyou and have a nice day! :)
I refuse to get drawn into an argument with some of you guys across the pond.
Then don't start them.
And I did mean that you seem like a nice person. It wasn't patronization. You were worried about what bike? receiving his bicycle. In my book, that's a nice person.
But when you publicly correct someone's failure to separate sentences, and in the very same paragraph, fail to separate two of your own, you have to expect somebody to call you on it.
This smiley isn't mean in a patronizing manner either: :) Pax.
So much for not posting again, no matter what is posted henceforth. I'm bowing out now, even if you're not.
what bike?, congrats again, and apologies for my part in this detour in your thread. Pics...

If you were sorry why did you detour?
And I don't need someone to tell me if I seem nice or not thanks! I'll let others who know me somewhat be the judge of that. :)

We are a community here and it doesnt matter where you are from. I think after a while you can tell who is nice and who just wants to hear themselves. Cant we all just get along? feel the love.

My camera on my phone is well... crap :roflmao:, ill punctuate more, when i type on computers i always type like that so im sorry about it, ill try take some pictures with a camera (if i find one in the house).
what bike?
07-27-08, 11:03 AM
Also if i was able to borrow a digital camera how would i be able to upload the pictures on to the computer?
WB, one of two ways...
1. A cable to connect the camera to your computer will allow you to transfer the images over to your machine. Once there, upload them to your favorite pictures site... several free ones around.
2. There should be a memory card in the camera. If you happen to have a memory card reader, you can transfer the files that way.
Can't wait to see the new bike. Very happy for you.

You can open a flickr account and upload there. It is possible to link them to here then. I'll find the instructions I wrote to another forum member and paste here!
Once you've got them, you can also put them up at any web space you've got access to, and just link to them.
Since I contributed to the recent silliness, I'm happy to do penance by hosting them.

Never mind all forget about it most people think i need to punctuate more anyway :p, it all sounds complicated but im sure once i get the hang of it, it should be easy.

WB I messaged you with info on using www.flickr.com and then using the insert image icon in the menu for submitting messages on this forum. It works a treat for me :)

i took the bike out on a trip (about 2 miles) with my little brother today and it behaved perfectly!
I even went off road a bit and it handled it very well, i really enjoyed the ride although it was very tiering because i was in top gear all the was pedling as fast as i can and was going very fast lol, but i enjoyed going fast with the air brushing my face (more like pounding) and it was very refreshing :D
Next trip... Paris to Dakar!
i took the bike out on a trip (about 2 miles) with my little brother today and it behaved perfectly! What, your little bro' or the Trek...?
Ha! Nice one...
There is no such a thing as a trek folder...F400, F600, those are urban legends!
(congratulations on your new bike, I think this frame is one of the most sophisticated designs out there).
what bike?
07-29-08, 02:07 AM
Thanks 14r, it is a very sturdy and solid frame and i also like the design :D, when i first had interest in folding bikes after buying the bickerton this was one of the first folders i found out about (on these forums) and i fell in love with the design...
But then i found out trek were no longer produced them and i was really disapointed because i really wanted one and i thought i would never get my hands on them and i also saw the asking price of them.
Soon as i saw it on ebay i fell in love all over again and snapped it up for a bargain of £160! (anyway i think its a bargain :o), And i am very pleased with it so far.
Nice one jur :roflmao:

fell off of the trek already :roflmao:, ive cut both my arms pretty badly, cut my chin and bruised my left thigh. i added a couple more small scratches to the bike and smashed the front reflector :(.
i fell off because i ran onto some grass with my slicks when changing down to fourth gear, silly me :o
mulleady
07-29-08, 12:48 PM
Sorry to hear that.
You said you have slicks on the bike? If you want better grip you could take a look at the Schwalbe Marathon plus tyres when you get the dosh. Almost bombproof and with some grip to boot.
I'm sure that won't stop you as you seem passionate about cycling :)
what bike?
07-29-08, 12:51 PM
nah it didnt i had to ride 3 miles back home :roflmao2:.
And yeah im thinking of getting some tyres with more grip as there is more offroading here where i live :D
