Bicycle Mechanics - Bottom-bracket for old Shimano 200GS?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Have an old Raleigh Yukon mountain bike (circa 1990). The kit is generally Shimano 200GS, and it has a Biopace chainset. The bottom-bracket needs replacing. Would be most grateful if someone could point me in the direction of the equivalent replacement from:

Shimano 72/3 or truvativ square xr. I would sk them about shimano un52 bottom bracket it would be cheaper.

You also need to know your BB shell width 68 or 73mm and axle length, could be 107 to 127mm

Many thanks. Presumably the requisite information is printed on the existing BB?

Maybe, if not you can measure close enough with a good eye and a metric ruler.
