Fifty Plus (50+) - Pro bike races; a metric century; and some irrelevant faffing (pics included)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Random bike pics from the weekend.....went on a metric century today; an organized ride called the Tour de Peaks. Despite the name, there was no climbing to speak of, and you really couldn't see the peaks because it was foggy/cloudy/and a little rainy. With the lack of climbing and cool temps, it was about the easiest 66 miles I've ever done. I'm nursing a sprained ankle right now, so it was perfect.

I did get this nice shot of the waterfall at Snoqualmie Falls, Wa.:

Some of our local peaks are hiding behind this fog:

Curiously, this float showing one of the local mountains (I think this is Mt. Si) was just sitting in the middle of nowhere along the highway...

Last night, the FSA GrandPrix -- professional track racing -- came to town (Marymoor Velodrome, Redmond, Wa.). Got a few pics before it got too dark:

One of the highlights was Keirin racing, paced behind a motorcycle as in Japan:

Now the faffing. This has no biking relevance, but since some of you like dogs I thought I'd show you the shot I got of a Viringo recently in Peru...this rare, hairless breed often wins "world's ugliest dog" competitions. There is no reason to include this, but I'm still wading through vacation pics and I admire this pup's Mohawk.

You can go back to discussing bicycles, now...

Beautiful scenery. Nice pictures.

Have you started a thread on biking in Peru, yet? Even though I rented a mountain bike in Cuenca, Ecuador for about 3 weeks I really only did one significant bike trip and then it was so rainy and foggy I didn't get much in the way of photos. At one point I thought I was doing okay going up a 10% grade on a dirt road at 11,000 ft :speedy: until a local 4'5" tall women took me by surprise from behind and just ambled past me and was soon out of sight.

But, if you have/start a thread I will add a post to it.
