Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Meanwhile, in the Road Cycling subforum...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I almost want to laugh but then I don't because I'm also a road cyclist and I have socks that I prefer wearing when I'm in my cleated shoes, and then I want to bury my head in the sand for having read that thread.

Granted, I'd never discuss the pros and cons of a given sock style with anyone else, but even so.

see, there's this thing i have.

it's called lots of leg hair.

there's this other thing i have, it's called a sense of masculinity and pride in my leg hair.

because of these things of mine, i elect to use ankle socks.

i see the ridiculousness of that thread, but it's nothing when compared to the general insanity of that forum.

the real special posters come out when a thread is created, wherein the op gripes about their spouse & bikes. That's when you get to see how truly pathetic most of the posters in that sub-forum are.

yeah, that forum is full of people who don't deserve their success.

The irony, people in ssfg hating on a frivolous thread. How about something like, what color deep v's should I get? Or, should my crank match my wheels and saddle? Is that enough substance for ssfg?

Yeah people seem to lose sight of their own sillyness. Talk to your girlfriend or wives about the whole fixed gear thing and as much as we might think our bikes are cool or whatever else, they might have a different opinion. My girlfriend frequently reminds me that I'm a "bike dork" so I tend to take everyone else's sillyness with a grain of salt.
