So I picked up one of the Blackburn X8 sets from Jenson seeing as the set costs $130 dollars, and most of the complaints about the X6 were about the horrible nimh battery which the X8 has replaced with a lion setup.

I've never biked at night before but on the test ride the setup seemed passable for me at normal speeds while certainly not adequate for quick downhills.

Has anyone stuck new LEDs into these? I like what I've gotten as a total package but I know the Lux III lights are the weak link. I've heard of people sticking P4s into these (Not sure how they stack up in the grand scheme of things) - I'd appreciate any info about cracking this set open.

Good question! I just received mine from Jenson today. Have yet to try them but I've read in other places about this lamp swap. Does it make it that much better and how mych are these other lamps?

Just wondering if either of you have some follow-up on the X8. I saw them on Jenson but have not found a whole lot of reviews. I'd be using the lights for commuting (some areas lit, some roads with no streetlights) and some trail riding as well.
