... thankfully there was a helmet wrapped around it.
I was headed to work like usual. There was zero traffic, so I took a corner nice & fast. Unfortunately, there was a puddle from the last nights rain, and my bike went out from under me. The fall was so fast that before I even knew what was happening I heard my helmet slam the ground. I got to my knees & sat in the road for a second, in complete shock. After I picked up my bike I went to the curb & layed down in the grass to collect myself. A few drivers stopped to check on me, including my cousin who just happened to pass by, but since I was 2 blocks away I decided I could finish the trek.
I broke all the reflectors off of my pedals, and since they don't sell replacements & I commute @ night I had to get new pedals. I also scratched 1 of the bar ends & a rear derailleur, but the bike is entirely functional. As for me, my knee hurt that night, and my upper arm was bruised, and I had a dull roar of a headache, but no concussion.
I wore a 661 Mullet, and it held up GREAT. There are 2 tiny cracks in the foam, it seperated from the outer shell, and had a bit of scar damage on the outside. I got a Trek Vapor as a replacement, but will still file for a free replacement Mullet & use that for spring & fall.
Bottom line: Despite looking like a dork, my helmet definitely saved me from a trip the Emergency Room, and quite possibly saved my life.
