It's been a few years since Landis, so do you believe Ricco was the only contender doping?

I think there was much less doping this year. I say this because watching the mountain stages, the GC men were fairly evenly matched.

What stuck out for me was riders couldn't maintain the huge accelerations. Frank and Andy Schleck, Evans, Valverde, Kohl - on the twisties of Alpe D'Huez no one maintained more than 30 seconds of acceleration. Of course Sastre put the big hurt on, but he won more because of the uneven tempo of the Schleck brothers more than anything else.

What surprised me was Schumaker's (sp?) TT wins and his solo flyers in the mountain stages... My money is on him as the next positive. How does he spend all day out front several times and come back to win a TT?

Also, Sylvain Chavanel could be another. Seemed like he was in a break every other day... could just be an incredible strong man though.

Thoughts?

Has anyone heard anything on the other SD rider that was canned? Has he been found positive of anything?

just because you dont know who he is doesnt mean he is a doper. dude has always rode like that and has had a really good season to date. Nothing surprising about his performance.

Both guys are reputably strong TT riders and national champions at that.

Piepoli admitted to using the stuff to the Director Sportif after SD pulled out of the Tour.

Schumacher was not a surprise to me. Piepoli - a small surprise - not shocked though.

Piepoli is like 37 or something; pretty up there to be climbing as well as often as he does.
