I'm looking for a good comfort bike for my girlfriend. I know she would be uncomfortable on a road bike, she is basically looking for a bike that is comfortable that she could do some commuting on. I'm also looking to spend under $150.... any suggestions??? Thanks so much!

You won't find much for $150. Most new bikes from a shop will start around $325. X-mart bikes are cheaper but will not last. Most need service within a few weeks.
The only other option, if you know the correct size you're looking for, is craigslist.org (http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html). Find your state and city and then click on "bikes" under for sale.
You could also try thrift shops and garage sales. You may get lucky.

you could also try your local bike club for a bike. you could probably find someone who is looking to unload a bike there. you probably will be able to get it for a good price. :thumb: Best wishes to you and your hunt!

She should try out a bunch--new and used--and see which ones she likes.

It really stinks having a budget....We had a yard sale and got rid of a bunch of junk and made around 150 bucks not bad for 5 hours work. Then bought the bike the wife wanted a cannondale comfort 5. I tried to sell the wallyworld bike she was riding (I even tuned it up to where the gears actually matched the levers) but no one would dish out 20 bucks for it. Good luck finding a bike.

I know you are on a budget, but there are 4 people in our friend/family circle (ages 39-76 years) who have Specialized Expedition Sports and we all love them. (This is similar to the Specialized Crossroads mentioned above, but with 26" wheels and beefier tires). Retail price is in the low $300 range.

I love mine and have been going for longer rides each week because it's so comfortable and fun to ride. At some point I may "outgrow" it, but this type of bike was just the motivation I needed to get out and enjoy bicycling again. Maybe you can find a better quality used bike that is within your budget?
