Anyone out there been on the Sea to Sky Highway recently.
I hear the road has been improved; more lanes etc.
Is there a decent paved shoulder???
I cycled the road about 10 years ago and was totally disgusted with the traffic and the very narrow paved shoulder. So much so that I took a bus back down to Vancouver.
It could be a spectacular bike ride if you could enjoy the scenery along the way

Don't go.
There's a crazy amount of construction going on there, improvements before the Olympics. There's zero shoulder in places, cars all gridlocked and stress-cased drivers snapping at everything that's getting in the way of their Chateau's. In a couple summers it'll be wider, smoother, and have shoulders.

Hokkaido speaks the truth. It's pretty torn up as of last weekend. They're making good progress, but it's just not there yet for bikes.
Hi,
I cycled it last year. There was traffic, a lot of construction and most of it a single lane without shoulder.
The construction area was to Britannia Beach. From that point on it was a two lane road with a 2m wide shoulder - the part Squamish - Whistler was one of many highlights on my Canada trip last year.
They placed some road "Share the road" signs - and it really works. I had no dangerous moment. The only problem was that I had to cross the road to make some seaside pictures (and in the middle of the road were concrete barrieres)
