Introductions - New guy from Utah. Now I have 2 bikes.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi all. I'm Tony from Salt Lake City. I'm new to riding a road bike but not new to bike riding, as in sportbike riding.
My brother wanted me to get into doing some mini triatholons with him and talked me into getting a bike. I actually have 2 reasons for getting one. The first was to appease my bro and do these triatholons and two, at the same time there is no better training for racing a sportbike around a road course than bicycling. So I'm killing 2 birds with one stone.
Since this is my first road bike I figured a Schwinn Varsity would do me good for a while until I figure out how much I like to ride. Well after 3 days I have realized that I really not only like to ride but downright love it.
I can already tell that road bike riding is going to help me decrease my lap times and physically give me the ability to toss my 2007 Ninja 650r around Miller Motorsports Park. I'm getting into road racing and there is no better way to train for that than riding a road bike. There are so many similarities between the 2 sports that there is no wonder I love them both.
I look forward to getting to know you folks and absorbing all the good you have to offer.
Here are my 2 bikes. My lower fairing is yellow because I crashed a few months ago in the canyon so I repainted it. :thumb:

You've probably passed our head administrator, Brian, on those canyons (he's riding a motorcycle, too).

Are you going to go in for some bike commuting, or will you just stick with the road cycling to help with the road racing training?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
