I currently live in El Paso, TX and I'm thinking about picking up and going to live in Honolulu, HI. Anyone here live in either of these places?
When I was in Hawaii last time, I saw lots and lots of bikes and scooters. I loved it. I also loved the fact that very minimal security was needed for the bikes. Think about it. If someone did steal the bike where are they going to go? I mean there's only so many places you can go on an island before you see the bike again. So theif wasn't a major consern.
In El Paso, TX however... You don't see many people on bikes. Theft is a real problem here. A thief can steal something and just cross the border into Mexico. (NOTE: I did not say Mexicans are thieves.) Since bikes are not used often, the city is not very bike-friendly. :(
