BMX - Handle bars and pedals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm buying a 2003 24" Specialized TR-X. I'm going to swap out the 125mm (4.92") rise X 620mm (24.41) wide handlebars for an 8" rise X 27"+ width with minimal sweep.
I want to get pedals with replaceable pins.
And, I'm going to change the tires to kevlar belted. We ride in a high thorn/glass count area.
Any suggestions?

There's lots of options for pedals. My personal favorite are Odyssey Jim Cielencki's. Not alot of concave, replaceable pins, lots of options (Mg, Al, sealed, unsealed, etc.). If you want bear traps for pedals, I'd go for Snafu pedals. Lots of concave and replaceable pins. However, the pins break easily, the holes strip, and the pins break easy.
Good luck finding bars with an 8" rise.

i agree with that guys but if your racing maybe some welgos might do it? or 1664 bear traps? you kind of just have to find your personal comfort level. Right now i ride primo's and the hall-ass for street.
and i have no clue about the bars. Maybe you could try getting some custom made.

i have snafu concaves and their great
Way more money than I want to spend. I'm just trying to see what's available at a reasonable price. Supercross, DK, Odsessy, Man o war and Profile (one Grey pair left . Profile stopped making handlebars) has the bar. But the specs available on the corresponding WEB site are lacking big time. The changes (with price of bike) so far are reaching close to the $500.00 mark. Here's what I did so far.
Pedals will remain stock. I'll replace them when I grand them down.
The tires are the new style Specialized Spanky Armadillo. Aggressive thread plus a kevlar belt. A little extra weight but a lot lighter than carrying a bike with a flat tire.
The forks (I want front brakes. And the 990 adaptor looks cheesy) are going to be Man O War.
Front brakes will be the same as stock.
The only thing left will be the handlebars. I'll hear front the shop today about those. But, I could spend an extra $30.00 and get Odsessy of do a straight across trade and get Man O war.
We'll see what the bmx Gods have in store.
