Okay, I feel like an idiot for have wrecking on the road, but I guess that anything is possible. I am riding down to a friends, and I am in 24th gear, standing up. I was really pushing, and was doing about 30, when my finger bumped the downshift just enough so that it shifted down. All of the tension lost plus the fact that I was leaning over my handle bars, caused me to endo over the front of the bike. It slammed hard into the ground...I launched about twenty feet. The sad thing is that the first words out of my mouth were "my bike!". As soon as I could move agian I ran up to it to find the rear derailer busted off at the hanger!! And there is a large scratch on the frame...
I was okay except for a HUGE scrape on my bike and minor scrapes on my arm, but luckily I did not break any bones. If this had happened on the trails I know that I would have broken something! I have never had a serious wreck Mountian Biking and I have been riding a long time and I am fairly good at it.

yea...when I fell on my new bike...guess what the first thing I checked was...thats right, it was my bike. It wasn't until I saw that everything worked that I realized that I had some serious road rash...

Don't worry about feeling like an idiot. I hit a one inch thick stick and endoed. Seriously.
Guess we all have bizarre wrecks once in a while.

i fish tailed into the path of the tree and tossed my bike to the left and myself to the right. Luckly it was a muddy day and i fell into a pile of mud and slide about 10 feet afterwars i realized that it wasn't just mud in there because flys were around. (the trail is sometimes used for horses). in the end the bike was fine and so was i but we were both very muddy and stinky.

The rash on my back is starting to get a really thick scab, and it hurts!!!
Sorry for the gross details it really sucked...I though I would take it easy becuase of the wreck, but as soon as I got back on the trails that all went down the drain!! ;)
I was on the Sherpa though...no suspension! Drop offs really sucked!

I've had some really stupid wrecks. I was in Crested Butte riding slow and turned aoround to see where my g\f was. I was going around a bend in the trail and didn't see the boulder that I endoed on. I thought I had broke every bone in my hand but managed to only break my index finger.
When I first started clipless I fell over in the parking lot to many times.
I fell this weekend on a jump that couldn't have been more than a foot tall. I launched wrong and came down practically sideways, lost traction, and then ate it. I have ANOTHER warped rotor as a result. I only had mild bruising on my hip/shoulder fortunately.
When starting up riding again after not having been on a bike in years, I ate it doing a really, really simple 90 degree turn on the sidewalk. I had scrapes all over my hands and scratched up my chainstay.
It must have been really, really funny to watch.
Isn't it weird that a lot of (maybe even most of) the big scratches on your frames come from stupid little mistakes like these instead of actual, damage-worthy MTB crashes?

i guess we all have a story or 2.if not we may get the big head and really get hurt.my nastiest wreck was a deer crossing my path while cranking down hill and had to hit the deer, the tree,or the ground(my friends say i should have hit the deer).i intentionally endoed and had a strawberry from my helmet to my ankles, tore up my gloves and hands but the bike did fine(it fell non der. side)except for scratches.my dumbest one was trying to go around a corner on pavement that was sided with 4x4s and hit the derailer on a 4x4 and snapped the hanger(bike was less than a week old) crashed and scatched the crap out of MY NEW WHITE V-LINK,RUINED THE STICKERS!i have had many crashes some cool many just lack of paying attention(like missing a turn and ending up in the trees instead of in the turn).this is how i grew to love it so much.it forces me to take my mind off my life and put it where i am at the time.mt.biking rules!!!

my stupidest wreck was at Mission bay. First time using clipless pedals and I couldn't get out fast enough. Everyone watching saw me just stop and fall over.

You people have knarly krashes. I don't have a really knarly one, but it happened about 6 years ago when I was nine. I went really fast around a parking lot and saw a car coming. I did a quick right, BIG MISTAKE. I smashed RIGHT into a Parking Block and flipped over. No huge injuries, but big leg scrapes.
Also, when I was 4 and I was in Sweden (yes I came from sweden, but Im Chinese.) there were these wide walks. You wouldn't call them side walks cause there was no road running through the center. Well anyways. The walk would go forward for a while then a road would run across it and then the walk would continue. Well, I was near the intersection, when my older friends biked across, I decided to do that as well, but I was slower. So what happned was this. I biked forward onto the road, looking at my firends, not realizing a truck was going down the road at about 25 kmph right at me. Kablammo! My bike takes some impact as I am knocked down. My foot gets run over by the wheel and the damage is...
barely anything. My bike was okay. My foot was barely fractured. My nike sneaker. Let's say it got pruned.
