Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Anyone know anything about White Industries Eno Eccentric hub?

So, as you can see in another thread a few away from this one, I'm looking to convert an old vertical dropout equipped bike into a fixey. My local shop had a White Eric's Eccentric ENO rear hub a few weeks ago and I'm thinking about getting it. (You can find more about it here (http://www.whiteind.com/eno.htm) ). It seems like a really good idea for folks like me. Anyone have any experience with them, or with the regular ENO?

I considered getting one of those but opted to just look for a frame with horizontal drops. My theory was that if I build up a bike with horizontal drops and ever find a frame I liked better I could always move my old parts over. I just liked the idea of having standard parts.

Hmm, read your other thread. I made a giant ocr3 into a single speed with a singulator and I regret it. I think the giant was fine as it was, and I will prolly just return it to the the way it was. I'm in the process of getting stuff to build a fixed. This will give me 3 bikes: single speed, fixed, and road bike. I think when you try to make something into what it isn't you end up with less, I know I did on my giant-- it was designed to work the way it was built.

If you like the bike I would leave it and build another-- I can't think of anything wrong with having 2-3 bikes.

I have used Eric's Eccentric ENO hus to build up a SS/fixie for my wife and to build a SS wheel for my mountain bike, it is a great hub. Smooth cartridge bearings, nice finish, easy to use and it works as advertised! I recommend it with no reservations, you won't regret buying this hub. Besides you don't want a clunky chain tensioner, they are too fussy and spoil the simplicity you are after.

I already have four bikes and the wife wouldn't go for another one. The old 'dale is just sitting out in a shed; I was going to sell it before I came up with this idea. I don't need two geared roadie bikes sitting around and don't want to fork over any more money on something else to take up more space in our place, which is already cramped (hence the bike being out in a shed). In other words, if I want a fixie, I do a conversion.
