I'm trying to figure out what size caliper I need for the rear of my Santa Cruz Super 8, and figured you guys may have some input. The rear dropout on my bike is made to (what I believe) work with a 6" caliper set-up but utilize an 8" rotor without any special adapters. I currently have the 8" hope gothic rotors on it, and am looking to use a hope mono mini on the rear. I think that I need the rear 160 set-up. This may help you understand what I'm talking about, I took the rear caliper (hayes mechanical) off of my specialized p.1 that uses a 6" rotor, and put the caliper on the super 8, and it fit perfectly without any rubbing or excess space between the rotor, caliper. Like I said before, this leads me to believe that I need the mono mini caliper that is sized to work with a 160mm rotor(6"). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most companies use the same caliper for their 6" and 8" rotors, they just change the spacer.

Hope however makes the mounts on the cliper longer or shorter depending on the rotor. If you get their Mini sys. with 6" rotors you can not use the 8" rotors. Decide what size disc you want and get it but you will not be able to swap from 6" to 8".

By the way, those new Minis are schweeet.

You may need a new rotor as existing rotor is proberly 205mm and the new monos use 200mm unlike the pre-mono hopes that used 205mm.
