Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Too much for the wheels?

My LBS has a leftover 2006 Specialized Allez triple that I'm looking at getting. While doing some Google research I found some gave it bad marks for the wheels. I'm currently about 300 pounds (and dropping), Do I need to be overly concerned?

See what they'll give you toward tradeback on the stock wheelset for some hand built deep V's form Velocity or equivalent wheel. ;)

I have an '06 allez triple. Great color scheme right? I've had the bike since last summer and i've been around 250 lbs since i've had it. I just, as in yesterday, replaced the wheels. I wasn't having problems other than a couple popped spokes and a bunch of flats within the last two weeks. I'd suggest going with Tom's advice, although I personally can't easily pick up hand built wheels in springfield IL, i don't know how the central delaware market is for that. Otherwise, you could ride them until you need new ones like I did. You aren't going to find a bike in the same price range with dramatically better stock wheels.
