Northeast - Any NYC people--Riis Beach 8/3

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Riis Beach Sunday 8/3
I've been going on rides with people over at Brooklynian.com. This weekend a few of us want to do a longer ride, and we've narrowed it down to Riis Beach. Since there are only 3 or 4 that want to go, I wanted to extend the invitation to you guys as well.
We would meet at Grand Army Plaza, cut through the park, take Ocean Parkway greenway down, and then switch over to the Belt Parkway greenway. Like this:

Here's the thread over on that message board:

The meeting time now for sure is 12 noon at Grand Army Plaza.
Grrr...I put the wrong date in the title, and it won't change when I edit it. Can a mod help me out???
Thanks!

Instead of using Ocean Pkwy, I'd recommend using Bedford Ave. It is much calmer even though you are on the street. And if you use Bedford, I'd recommend cutting through Ditmas Park to get there. It is quite a sight for anyone that has never seen it. Exit the park at Coney Island Ave at the circle as you were, take CIA one block to Caton, go left on Caton, right on either Westminster or Rugby, and go through Prospect Park South and Ditmas Park. When you get to Foster, take a left and go to E18th St,take a right on E18th, a left on Glenwood, then a right on Bedford to the end. It sounds complicated but it isn't.
Once out at Riis, the east end is gay, bi, whatever, the center is family, the west end out at fort tilden is nice and more isolated. There's a concrete bike lane that runs along the dune at fort tilden.
All that said, I won't be joining.
Yes, avoid Ocean Parkway on Saturday mornings.

This sounds like fun though I may be out of town.
