Talk about your favorite 1000K Randonnee .... why is it your favorite? ... what did you enjoy about it? ... would you recommend it to other riders? Do you have a website link for the event or your story about the event?

I've only ever done the Manitoba 1000K, and I enjoyed it. I like the idea of doing a ride that long without support ... fending for yourself the whole way round. I also like that distance better than either the 600K or 1200K distances.

So I'm considering doing another one in the next couple years and wondered what was out there. :)

The Ontario Randonneurs have a 1000km brevet around Lake Ontario.
I recently went around the lake. It was a very flat and pleasant ride - especially the American side - but nothing spectacular.http://www.geocities.com/pathebikeguy/lakeontario.html

Here's the route sheet for the Toronto Randonneurs 1000km ride;

They also have a Toronto 2 Ottawa 2 Toronto 1000km brevet.

if you had to choose between the two, which would be your pick? I'm considering trying one of these out next year to round out my R5000 application.

I would do the TO 2 Ottawa ride.
Its more challenging and interesting.
Around the lake seems too easy.

Has anyone here done the VanIsle (Vancouver Island) 1000K?
