Hi guys - I think I will get a folding bike , but it is hard to choose them just looking at pictures on-line without trying them

PLease if you have some expirince with the folding bikes share it here :)

Which model is your favourite considering performance and price ( the most important things for me are the light weight and the good performance of the shifts )- perhaps I will go for something under 400 $, because that's what my budget is right now :)

thanks a lot

be safe and have a good one ;)

Hi zeN, welcome to the forums!

What height are you and what kind of use/terrain do you need the bike for?

i had a £200 budget ($400) and i found it difficult to find a folding bike but i found one a trek f400 for £160, how about you look on ebay craigslist or gumtree to find a real bargain :D.

What bike, you didn't find it difficult, you just couldn't make your mind up! You could've had a brand new Downtube IXFS at that price at any point during your deliberations.

Downtube and Dahon are good. In your price range, definitely go with Downtube.

Citizen bikes are only worth half or less than they sell for, avoid them.

I would not get any bike on Ebay that I did not know about. For less than $400, you could get a older Dahon or even a new Downtube on Ebay.

A new Downtube is better than an older Dahon.

Don't quite agree there Sammyboy lol! I think whatbike was overwhelmed by the fantastic choice of folders out there. With some encouragement he did bite for the Trek in the end. It was a big outlay for him. As good as the Downtube is (I have 2), I believe whatbike nabbed a great bargain and the Trek is a lovely bike in both looks and components. It can even survive whatbike's dramatic crashes :P

If resale is any indication, then BB49 is correct. I only got $100 for my year old Citizen Miami. I say go with the Downtube.
